Evaluation on Preliminary Task

We all got given a task to create a story including the 180° rule and a continuous shot. In a short amount of time we had to create a short script, story board and work out the different shots we were going to use before filming. I felt the short time actually helped the group to stay motivated and all take on leading roles in contributing ideas. We used many different types of shots to emphasise certain elements of the narrative. Medium close-up was used to show the emotion and reaction of the personas face to something, this was used to make the audience get a feel of how the character may be feeling. We came up with an interesting way of using the 180° rule, we decided of a shot of two characters going up and down the stairs, both exchanging eye contact between one another. We also said we would edit this in the editing process to be slow motion to create more of a tension between the two. We used 'on-set' language such as '3,2,1.. ACTION' and 'CUT' to help each person know exactly what they were supposed to be doing at each point. We broke down our narrative into 'equilibrium' and 'disequilibrium' and created a cliff-hanger. We also included the things that could link to our genre, which was horror. This was close ups, hidden identities etc..
